Why Sworn is 18+

Sworn involves placing a real financial hold on your own card — up to $1,000 — that can genuinely be collected. Under Australian law, a payment commitment like that is only binding on someone who has the legal capacity to make it, and that capacity starts at 18.

It also takes a level of financial judgement we don’t want to shortcut: deciding what you can afford to put on the line, understanding that the money won’t come back if you miss the task, and accepting that this is deliberately uncomfortable — that’s the whole mechanism.

So the rule is simple. If you’re not 18, the app isn’t for you yet. No exceptions, no parental sign-offs — the payment hold itself has to be on your own card.
